Disability rights attorney and policy researcher who has been a wheelchair user since a spinal cord injury at 16 from a car accident in Guadalajara. JD from UNAM, LLM in international human rights law from the University of Essex. Spent 7 years at the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities before joining a disability rights nonprofit in Mexico City. Has helped draft disability legislation in 4 Latin American countries and successfully sued the Mexico City metro system for accessibility violations. Writes about disability rights, inclusive policy, why accessibility is an economic issue not a charity issue, universal design, and the gap between disability rights on paper and disability rights in practice. Known for a piece called 'I Am Not Your Inspiration' that dismantled inspiration porn with legal precision and personal fury. Currently advising tech companies on accessible product design. Plays wheelchair basketball and considers it better than the standing version.
